In terms of categories and Shopping Experiences, a "Layout type" is the type of CMS layout you create (e.g. Listing page). You can then assign a layout to any category or product. If you assign a CMS layout of the type "Listing page" to a category, this category will be a page with a product listing. (Technical speaking, the category in this case has the page type "product_list".)

Lazy Loading

When a web page is visited, the browser loads all the resources needed to view the page. In this process, all objects are loaded, even if they are out of sight ("below the fold"). This costs unnecessary loading time. To avoid this, developers use lazy loading. With the help of LazyLoad scripts or plug-ins, the browser only loads images and other data when they appear in the visible area of the visitor – for example when scrolling or enlarging the browser window. The Shopware Storefront and ThemeWare® also support a lazyloading feature loading="lazy" of modern browsers. [Tags: layzyload]

Plugin system

Plugins are the most powerful type of extension in Shopware 6, as they can extend or modify almost any part of the software. This makes plugins a very good way to extend the Shopware core and interact with it directly.

A popup (often also written pop-up) is an element for displaying additional content or requesting a certain interaction. Popups typically "pop up" in the middle of the web page and overlay the actual content. In Shopware, for example, the privacy policy of forms or the shipping costs on the product page are usually opened in a popup.

Preloader

A "preloader" script when loading a page may look pretty, but we recommend shortening the loading time of the page rather than concealing it.

Premium request

A "Premium request" #PremiumRequest is a special Feature request. It is a win-win situation for all sides. The customer contributes to the development costs and receives a desired feature as part of ThemeWare®. In return, the fact that a feature is incorporated into ThemeWare® eliminates the medium and long-term maintenance effort for updates, because the functionality and compatibility is guaranteed by the regular ThemeWare® updates.

Roadmap

We put a lot of effort into incorporating suggestions for improvement into the development and reacting as quickly as possible to changes made by Shopware. We therefore often work quite spontaneously and in the long term more with rough "milestones". An official or public roadmap is therefore not ideal in our experience.

S

Sales Channel

Sales Channels allow you to connect different sales channels to your shop system. On the one hand, this can be the classic storefront. On the other hand, it is also possible to transfer data to price comparison portals (e.g. billiger.de or Google Shopping) or to integrate social shopping (e.g. Instagram).

SEO

You can find more information about this in the Shopware documentation: SEO (Products).

The service navigation is displayed, for example, in the header next to the language selection in the so-called top bar and in the mobile footer. This category branch is assigned via the Sales Channel under "Entry point footer service navigation".

The shipping link is a link below the buy button on the product page. Clicking it opens the shipping and payment page stored in your shop as an overlay – so your customer stays on the product page. You word the text freely via a snippet. For products marked as Free shipping the link is hidden automatically. [Tags: shipping costs, shipping]
