# Switch to rental license

At the end of 2023 (December 28, 2023), Shopware has changed its booking options for extensions in the Shopware Store.

Since then, only **a monthly and annual rental option** is available in the store. This means that the purchase option and the associated subscription for purchase extensions have been abolished. This makes the follow-up costs of extensions more transparent.

All paid extensions without rental option will then no longer be available in the Store. A changeover is therefore mandatory for all manufacturers.

**Note**: The change only relates to the booking option. You do not need a new or different version of ThemeWare® and you do not have to purchase ThemeWare® again via the store. Only the billing will be changed from the former subscription to the rental. If you have any questions, please contact Shopware directly.

## What happens if my subscription expires?

Shopware has developed an upgrade wizard that is available in your Shopware account. This allows you to easily **switch to a rental** license **after the subscription has expired**, so that you can continue to receive support and updates for our themes and extensions.

**Note**: You do not have to switch to the rental license, but you will no longer receive support and updates for your theme.

Here's a little insight into what your account will look like:

The discounts in the assistant are as follows:&#x20;

* Customers receive a 50% discount in the first year if they pay monthly&#x20;
* For annual payment, the discount is 67% in the first year&#x20;

## Summary

**The change only relates to the booking option.** – You **don't need a new or different version of ThemeWare®** and you **don't have to purchase ThemeWare® again** via the store.&#x20;

Shopware will only change the billing from the former subscription to a rental license if you agree to this.

In terms of your ThemeWare® extension itself, everything remains as it is. You just continue to use your theme and your theme configuration.
